Monday, 15 May, leaving Nola

Every begin has an end, so also our visit to Nola. At about 9.30 were we leaving our beautiful hotel direction the zwomps and the plantatations, a piece of history from France and the US. 

Louis XIV was the namgiver of this state. Louisiana, a French Colonie. Years later was it Napoleon who sold the Colonie to the USA. He needed the money for his wars.....

In the meantime were there several French families who started in that period sugerplantatations a round the Missisippi river. They were buying slaves for the work on the plantatation. 

This history is the reason that we visit that area. We were visiting the most Beautiful plantatation: Laura. You can find some photos on our blog. 

We drove After this very interesting visit to Lafayette, a smal city in the zwamps of the Missisippi delta. The place of birth of the Zydeco blues.

We found the Randolfs, a Zydeco club and restaurant. We were very happy that they were open, also Monday evening. We took as entrée Alligator. Yes, unbelievable but truth, we both were never tasting alligator. We can tell you: delicious! The famous Craw fish was our maindish, also a topper! 

This part of the USA has a beautiful food tradition! You must try it! See the photos.

We drove  230 miles = 370 km and we walked almost 4 km. It was a beatiful day.
